The worst games we’ve played in 2015

Check out the worst titles we’ve played in 2015.

2015 was such a great year for video games. Not only did we get the chance to play huge blockbuster titles, we also had the opportunity to experience bite-sized masterpieces.

Although 2015 possesses a variety of wonderful titles, it also possesses more than a few stinkers that we would certainly like to erase from our minds – Men in Black style. That said, VG News Wire would like to present to you the titles we considered to be the worst games we’ve played in 2015. And without further ado, here they are:

Dragon Fin Soup – David Quigley

Dragon fin soup imageDragon Fin Soup is the game I least enjoyed in 2015. Available on Steam, PS4, PS3, and Vita, Dragon Fin Soup is a top-down action RPG with procedurally generated maps. That all sounds good and the titles visuals are stylish, but the game is hampered by unintuitive controls, an overloaded user interface, and an extreme lack of player direction.

To be completely honest, I was never entirely sure of my surroundings or objectives at any point in my time with Dragon Fin Soup. I found the moment-to-moment gameplay uninteresting as I aimlessly hopped around the map trying to defeat enemy creatures. I would personally recommend a game like Crypt of the Necrodancer, which I think pulls off the fun factor that Dragon Fin Soup originally intended to provide. Ultimately, Dragon Fin Soup is a video game that I wouldn’t have played if it wasn’t free via PlayStation Plus, and now that I have tried it, I have zero desire to revisit the title in the future.

Hatsune Miku Project Mirai DX – Peter Lopez

Hatsune Miku Project Mirai DX is the worst video game I’ve played in 2015. This Nintendo 3DS title caters to individuals within the J-pop spectrum, and does nothing to intrigue those who remain outside. Although Project Mirai DX supplies the individual with a hefty amount of tracks, each song within the video game runs for about 7 minutes too long, and ultimately feels like a chore to play.

Once the individual overcomes mental exhaustion, he or she may create a customizable character that possesses a set of unique items and apparel. But Project Mirai DX doesn’t allow customizable characters to leave their virtual home, which makes this implementation utterly pointless. Hatsune Miku Project Mirai DX is the worst video game i’ve played in 2015, and to be honest, has to be the worst video game I have ever played in my entire life.

Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma Vol. 1 – Jakejames Lugo

Afro Sam

Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma Vol. 1 from Redacted Studios is unequivocally the worst game that was released in 2015. What makes this game so terrible isn’t the source material or episodic release schedule, but rather its lack of attention to anything outside of its soundtrack. The visuals are dull, with graphics on par with an early PlayStation 2 title, and the controls are very stiff and hardly responsive.

Even more laughable is the poorly programmed A.I. that enter your viewpoint with a sluggish bullet-time effect, almost like a terrible parody for a modern hip-hop music video. Afro Samurai 2 sinks so low that it prevents players from fully upgrading their character to max before requiring the purchase of the ill-fated Volume 2. By the time you reach the end of the game’s half-finished storyline, you are left with an awfully timed cliffhanger ending that does nothing to promise any kind of conclusion in the next game. Nothing about Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma Vol. 1 is redeemable and nothing is enjoyable when you play it.

Final Fantasy Type 0 HD – Dawson Helton

final fantasy type 0

Final Fantasy Type 0 HD is the worst video game that I have played this year for a variety of reasons. The graphics in Final Fantasy Type 0 HD were not fully converted to HD and happened to be a sore on the eyes. Combat sections were boring and did not utilize the class system. Most of my experience was spent grinding instead of progressing through the story, which in itself is incomplete and requires a second play through just to unlock key plot points.
