Activision, Bungie Officially Part Ways

Video game developer and publisher Activision announced today that the company has cut ties with Bungie, leaving publishing rights and responsibilities to the Destiny development studio.

“Today, we’re announcing plans for Bungie to assume full publishing rights and responsibilities for the Destiny franchise,” said both Activision and Bungie in a joint statement today. “Going forward, Bungie will own and develop the franchise, and Activision will increase its focus on owned IP and other projects.”

This news comes to no surprise as Activision was not impressed with Destiny 2 sales, saying “Some of our other franchises like Destiny are not performing as well as we’d like,” during a November 2018 earnings call.
