Dinsey Interactive has announced the discontinuation of Disney Infinity, their toys-to-life platform, along with the exit altogether from console games publishing.
Disney Infinity has suffered steady sales decline in a competitive market, against other options like Skylanders and LEGO Dimensions. Disney Infinity reportedly cost more than $100 million to develop. The exit from self-publishing gives way for a shift to licensing their characters for use in games.
Two more figure sets will still be released for Disney Infinity. Alice Through the Looking Glass will have three characters this month, and Finding Dory launches in June.
