Halo 5: Guardians heads to Minecraft this week

The launch of Halo 5: Guardians is only a few days away, but if you’re dying to play as Spartan Locke or Master Chief, perhaps you’ll be able to play as them a little sooner than expected.

Individuals who have purchased the Minecraft: Halo Edition mash-up pack will be able to download the titles free update which unlocks Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris on Oct. 23, Microsoft announced today. This playable content may be downloaded via Minecraft: Xbox One Edition or Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. Those who do not own the Minecraft: Halo Edition mash-up pack may purchase the digital content for $3.99.

The Halo themed content will include a variety of playable characters, which include the following:

Blue Team:

  • Spartan-117 The Master Chief
  • Spartan-104 Fredric
  • Spartan-087 Kelly
  • Spartan-058 Linda

Fireteam Osiris:

  • Spartan Locke
  • Spartan Buck
  • Spartan Tanaka
  • Spartan Vale

Minecraft: Xbox One Edition launched on Nov. 5, 2014 and has sold more than 70 million units across a variety of platforms since its initial release in 2009.

Halo 5: Guardians is scheduled to hit Xbox One on Oct. 27.
