Zelda: BoTW expansion pass announced

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is to receive an expansion pass for both Wii U and Switch when the game launches on March 3, Nintendo announced today.

The expansion pass will cost $19.99 and will deliver two new “sets of downloadable content.” An image which details the contents of the expansion pass, and respective release windows, can be found below:

Upon purchasing the expansion pass, Breath of the Wild owners will receive three chests which will appear in the Great Plateau area. One chest will include a wearable Nintendo Switch t-shirt, while the other two have been said to be “useful items.” Nintendo has also mentioned that expansion content cannot be purchased individually.

VGN has reached out to Nintendo to find out if Wii U and Switch owners must buy the expansion pass twice should they own both version of Breath of the Wild, and will update this post should we hear back.
